We are excited to be participating in the NORDES: Who Cares? conference in Helsinki.
STORies OF HEALTH: MAPPING CARE THROUGH PROBES
In healthcare today, patients face a complicated landscape when caring for their health. To improve patient experiences, design research provides deep insight and empathy into patients’ lives and their care experiences. Innovative design research methods, e.g., Journey Mapping probes that encourage self-reflection and storytelling, uncover unmet needs, emotions, delighters, and obstacles that can be challenging to capture in traditional research. Making people the protagonists in their health and using tools to create health narratives offers new ways to improve outcomes and care.
This workshop explores the value of narrative tools in healthcare through three activities: First, participants will visualize their own “Story of Health” using a Journey Mapping cultural probe. Second, maps will be anonymously exchanged, reviewed, and embodied by participants to build empathy. Third, a co-design session will analyze the journey map outputs with a discussion around learnings and value of Stories of Health for stakeholders and communities.
Please join us on June 2 for our workshop where we will be using cultural probes to map our individual journeys of care.
Once you map your journey, you will partner with a colleague to embody their experience to build empathy. Then as a group we will analyze the returns to determine how we might best utilize these probes in our practice. In the upcoming months we will be releasing information and content about our workshop here.
If you are interested in our workshop, please select it in your NORDES registration. The workshop participation is included in the NORDES registration fee. We will be capping the attendance to 20 people.
In the upcoming months, we will be releasing information and content that you can download and complete before the workshop.
